Retro shader camera · iPhone & iPad
Shoot through a CRT.
Record it live.
RasterLab runs RetroArch‑inspired shaders on your camera feed in real time: scanlines, phosphor masks, VHS tracking, handheld LCDs and film looks. What you see in the preview is what gets recorded.
Requires iOS 26 or later. Apple Watch remote requires watchOS 10.6 or later.
By the numbers
Everything happens in the viewfinder
Filters are not a post‑processing step. RasterLab renders the shader into the live preview and writes that same filtered output to disk while you record.
A shader library, not a filter pack
Retro gaming consoles and handhelds, arcade CRTs, home video, cinema grades, monitor emulations and artistic effects. Multi‑pass presets such as CRT‑Royale are supported.
Filtered video and Live Photos
Record with the look applied, with audio, straight to your Photo Library. Live Photos keep the filtered motion. Recordings are written as recoverable fragments so an interruption does not lose the take.
Full‑screen controls
Swipe left for a random shader, swipe right to step back through your history, pinch to zoom, double‑tap to focus, long‑press to lock focus and tap once to hide the UI.
Trim and review clips
Open your recordings in the built‑in editor to scrub the filmstrip, trim the ends and keep the parts you want before sharing.
Lock Screen, Control Center, Siri
Launch capture from the Lock Screen camera control, Control Center and Home Screen widgets, Siri and Shortcuts. Edit existing photos through the Photos editing extension, and share into RasterLab from other apps.
Remote shutter on your wrist
The RasterLab Remote watch app talks to your iPhone over Watch Connectivity so you can start and stop capture from a distance.
Built for the GPU you already have
RasterLab's rendering pipeline is written in Swift 6 and Metal. Camera delivery keeps only the newest frame, preview and recording run on their own workers, and the shader catalog ships with hash‑verified thumbnails so the browser never has to compile a shader just to show you a preview.
- Quality presets at 30, 60 and 120 frames per second, switchable without restarting capture.
- Pre‑roll recording keeps a bounded buffer of compressed video so you can capture a moment that already happened.
- Recovery journal restores an interrupted recording and lets you save, restore or discard it explicitly.
- Optional location tagging of captures, only when you grant location access.
